John Kline Increases the Deficit

Conservative Representative John Kline (R-MN-02) has repeatedly voted against extending unemployment benefits to 2.5 million Americans by stating:

"We can't fund everything."

By comparison, Kline supports continuing to fund tax breaks for the richest 2% of American millionaires and billionaires.

Kline is voting to borrow 700 billion dollars and increase the deficit to extend tax cuts to the richest Americans while cutting money away from the poorest. I suppose it's a question of priorities, do you support average working Americans, or the wealthiest among us? Kline decided to support the wealthy and by doing so increases the deficit.

In his fourth term in Congress, Congressman Kline has been a active participant in America's budget and deficit, as he states:
"The Washington’s culture of taxing, borrowing, and spending is doing nothing to stem the tide of lost jobs and economic uncertainty"
Now Kline owns that culture of 'taxing, borrowing and spending' because he supports cut taxes on the wealthy, while increasing the deficit. Kline's loyalties lie with the millionaires and billionaires and not with the average American.
After nearly a decade in office, are you better off today than when Kline took office? No, of course not... unless you are among the wealthiest 2% of Americans. Tell Kline there's a difference between economic well being for all Americans verses economic wealth for a few.

QUERY : What would Mr. Kline say if Senator Franken proposed a tax-break for TV and film producers if at least 75% of the total compensation for film or TV production is within US ? Further, they can write off up to $15 million in taxes and up to $20 million if the costs are incurred in 'economically depressed areas' ?

My guess, Mr. Kline would say "No, problem … after all I already voted for that same type of tax break in 2008."

What if the proposal included a provision for quicker deprecation on 'motorsports entertainment complexes' (e.g. NASCAR) that would have the cost of $40 million to the US taxpayers?

My guess, Mr. Kline would say "No, problem … after all I already voted for that same type of tax break in 2008."

What if the proposal required the federal government to refund the excise tax on Rum sales at the estimated cost of $235 million dollars to the taxpayers in 2011 ?

My guess, Mr. Kline would say "No, problem … after all I already voted for that same type of tax break in 2008."

Well, guess what all those are included in this tax concession bill that Mr. Kline will no doubt support … actually the tax bill has more than $55 billion earmarked for special interests.

How ironic that Mr. Kline made a big deal out of the YouCut program proposal to cut the “Freedom Car” and now tax cuts will be provided to NASCAR owners ?

Seriously, here’s my question : Would you have a child to get the tax deduction ?
I hope that everyone would seriously consider the consequences of that decision and not base it on the concept of a tax deduction …
Yet, isn’t that what we are asking American businesses to do … increase employment to get a tax deduction …
Why would they ? Business is not in the business of hiring workers … they are in the business of producing or servicing a product.
Business will hire workers when they have business … not because they have $2 trillion dollars in cash on their balance sheets. Now, they may have invested if a surtax was put on cash in the balance sheets (actually at least one state has a personal property tax that includes the investment portfolio), that may have been an incentive for companies to spend money.

Let’s face it, President Obama realized that the “engine” to improve the economy was to cut the Social Security contribution rate and provide unemployment benefits … people will spend money … not corporations … these tax cuts without incentives to HIRE (such as Senator Franken’s legislation the HIRE Act did) will only add to the deficit.

BTW, Why is Lockheed-Martin closing its Minnesota facility and transferring work to other states ? Will Mr. Kline tell Lockheed that he will not support additional Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) {which are built at the Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin} production unless they re-evaluate their decision to move the jobs to New York and California ? (The House has on its docket this week to increase production from 10 to 20 ships … and guess what, the costs have doubled from $220 million to over $440 million in less than a decade … and all the “bugs” are not out of production yet.

Considering how the Federal Government has grown, how has John Kline handled his Congressional District operations ? Do you think, he cut it 10% … or held it to zero increase ? Nah, his operations increased 10% last year.

And remember all the talk about overly compensated federal employees, did you see how generous he was with staff bonuses ?
